Profile
Mark Prebble’s public service career was mostly in the three central agencies of the New Zealand government. He became a deputy secretary to the Treasury in the 1990s before being appointed Chief Executive of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in 1998. In 2004 he took up the position of State Services Commissioner, which he held to 2008. Mark’s initial training and work was in economics; he holds MA in economics from Auckland University. Later he focused on public policy, completing a PhD at Victoria University in 1990.
